Escape Velocity Cycling Club is proud to present its 2011 Young Women’s Cycling Camp, July 4-27. Teams dEVo and Team dEVa are designed to encourage young riders into the sport of competitive cycling.
This program is designed to help young women make the transition from bicycle enthusiast to skilled cyclist. Participants will learn about all the major road disciplines, including Track, Road and Cyclocross skills. They will also learn the principles of cycling in a group and cycling-specific cross training.

Lisa Howard Lisa has been addicted to road biking since her first race in 1998. She raced as a Junior, winning a National Championship on the velodrome, as well as the Western Canada Summer Games. She has also medalled in the Senior category at both National Track Championships and the Canada Summer Games. After racing full time across Canada, Europe and the United States, Lisa returned school full time, and now continues to race locally. Having been a young woman cyclist, Lisa is passionate about helping young women enter the sport. She has coaching experience in both gymnastics and cycling. Most recently she has been mentoring and coaching a novice women's cycling team, Escape Velocity's dEVas. She is very excited help young learn about road cycling, and plans to continue advocating for all women in cycling. |

Jeff Ain Jeff Ain has been involved with the Vancouver cycling community since 2003 as a racer, coach, and organizer. Since joining the dEVo program as a new racer in 2003, Jeff progressed through the ranks to eventually join Escape Velocity’s Elite team in 2006, competing in regional elite races such as the Tour de Gastown, Giro di Burnaby, and other races throughout the Pacific Northwest. He still races locally at a Cat 2 level. Jeff has been coaching and mentoring over the past three years as a ride leader for dEVo rides, assistant coach for the 2008 BC Summer Games, Learn to Ride instructor at the Burnaby Velodrome, and providing personal coaching for local athletes. He is currently a NCCP level 2 certified coach and a member of the Coaches Association of British Columbia. |
