POITRAS WINS CANADIAN NATIONAL CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Representing Symmetrics Cycling at the Tim Hortons Canadian National Criterium Championships, I rode to a great victory in the Criterium on the second day of the Championships with the help of my team-mate Marni Hambleton.
Attracting a record number of top riders from across the country, this was the first time the Criterium was recognized as an actual National Championship event with a jersey to be awarded to the winner. The race was aggressive from the start with Alison Sydor (multiple World Champion) riding for Rocky Mountain/Business Objects attacking from the gun. Attacks continued to be launched one after the other by a strong contingent of Quebec riders lead by Lyne Bessette, Rocky's Alison Sydor and team-mate Lesley Tomlinson and Victory Brewing's Amy Moore and Gina Grain.
Marni and I worked hard to cover all attacks and launch some of our own, but the race was destined to come down to a group sprint. Sydor attacked with 2 laps to go hoping to avoid a group finish, but with the help of Moore and Hambleton, she was brought back with just under half a lap to go. Grain and I entered the final two corners shoulder to shoulder, reminiscent of our battles the previous week on the track. It was another exciting drag race to the line with the victory going to me by half of a wheel.

Next up is BC Superweek beginning with the Tour de Delta Hill Climb on Friday night. Saturday night will be an exciting downtown criterium in Ladner, followed by the Road Race on Sunday in Delta. Many thanks to everyone for sharing in my success:
