Track Nationals Wrap Up
Another photo finish!! The Tim Hortons National Track Championships concluded for me with the Keirin final on Sunday afternoon (qualifiers took place Sunday morning). The Keirin is a 5 lap race - 3 1/2 laps are done behind a motor bike which gradually takes the speed from 30km/hr to 45km/hr. After the motor bike pulls off, it is a 1 1/2 lap drag race to the finish. Sunday's race resulted in yet another photo finish with Calgary's Auna-Brit Erickson (winner of the women's 500m Time Trial event). After a long analysis of the photo finish tape, the victory went to Erickson by 1/1000 of a second! Overall, I had a very successful Nationals coming home with 2 gold (Points Race and Individual Pursuit) and 2 silver medals (Scratch Race and Keirin). Below are 2 links to some photos from the women's points and scratch races. I am in the red Rocky skinsuit with the yellow helmet. Points Race photos (photos #1-9): http://www.canadiancyclist.com/races05/tracknats/partthree/index.htm Scratch Race photos (photos #6-18): http://www.canadiancyclist.com/races05/tracknats/partone/index.htm Many thanks again to everyone for your continued support and encouraging emails. I am off to Kamloops tomorrow for the Tim Hortons National Road Championships where I will contest the Criterium (now a National Championship event) on Friday evening and the Road Race on Sunday as part of the Symmetrics Cycling squad. Thank you to:
