EV celebrates its best

The EV/dEVo/GE/dEVa/dEVo BMX crowd recently gathered for our annual awards party, in which we celebrated memorable members and infamous incidents.

We commemorate this by taking unflattering photos of people eating. Here's the latest one:

And now, the awards!

Mechanically Disinclined: Mark Dormer. The nomination read, "have you seen his bike?"

Dedication to Training (dEVo): Rachel Canning. Do you wear dishwashing gloves over your regular gloves so you can do 3 hour rides in miserable weather? No you don't. And that's why Rachel won (repeating from 2008) and you didn't.

Dedication to Training (EV): Tim Abercrombie (honourable mention to Lisa & Claire). Tim wins this award, and not for the first time, by extracting pro-grade results from a has-a-life schedule. Did we mention he finished 3rd in the longest, oldest race on the continent? Lisa and Claire hammered down though, and as more than a few pros can tell you, finishing one spot behind Tim is nothing to be ashamed of.

Most Improved (dEVo): Brendan Cowley wins after a revelatory year.

Most Improved (EV/GE/devas): Jacob Schwingboth / Jesse Reams (tie). Let's see: 2 track nats gold medals for the Flying Squirrel versus an all-star Superweek including a $1200 prim for Yukon Gold? We couldn't chose among them either.

rEVolution Leaders award: Jeff Ain. Mr. J. Pain has led the dEVo team ably, so we decided to give him this award for the second year running.

Best EV Story: Ryan Cousineau & Tobin Copley. 8-hours of cyclocrossing on muddy dirt roads? Stopped when you hit the snow-line? Logging trucks? If not, your story wasn't epic enough to win.

Keeper of the Flame: Jeff Ain. A guy so nice, we awarded him twice.

Yes, 2 out of 3 members agree, the 2009 party was fun:
