BCTT: Start times for Victorians, Bike-measuring guidance

BCTT! Yep, it's nearly the time of trial. A few more last-minute things.

If you are coming from Vancouver Island via ferry, and you pre-register, we can give you a later start time so you're not sprinting off the ferry. Mention it to us on the pre-reg form and we'll do what we can.

Bike measurements

Here are some guidelines on how your bike will be measured by the commissaires before you start:

  • Peak of seat must be 5cm or more behind bottom bracket
  • Aero bars must be horizontal, not tilted up
  • Front of aero bars (through spindle of gear shifters) must not be ahead of front wheel axle and must be no more than 75cm ahead of bottom bracket. 5cm tolerance will be allowed for morphological exceptions. In any event, front of knee must not be ahead of pedal spindle.
  • Ratio of long and short diameters of bicycle elements, excluding saddle, pedals, gear mechanisms shall be not more than 3:1 Use of padding to get bar "wings" to conform is OK.

These are general guidelines. The complete regulations governing road and TT bikes are in this document straight from the UCI [pdf]. If you think your bike may be questionable, please report to bike-measuring as early as possible. The measuring station will be at sign-on, in the Tradex parking lot, and opens at 0800.
