Escape Velocity Wants You Maybe!

You've seen us training, racing, and running races. You've always admired our impressively good-looking red, black and white team kit. Hey: we acknowledge that Escape Velocity is a great competitive cycling team, and we have better racing documentary videos than any other club around. If you've been interested in joining us, now is the time to act, because for the month of September we are accepting membership applications!

We like to think that Team Escape Velocity represents the friendly, professional face of competitive cycling in the Vancouver area. Does this attitude describe you? We are a heavily volunteer-oriented club. Are you looking for a way to give back to the sport through running races and by supporting the next generation of racers through dEVo, our youth development squad? Are you wanting to make a meaningful contribution to support bike racing in BC, and are prepared to commit some time to developing new racers and to making race events happen? Would you like to have great riding partners, race as a team, carpool to events, have free or discounted entry to certain races, and receive some helpful sponsor support?

If this sounds like you, then we'd like to hear from you. To apply, we ask for three things from you:

1) Drop us a line at evinfo@escapevelocity.bc.ca and tell us a bit about yourself and why you think we should consider you as a potential new club member and team mate. Let us know (a) why you want to join Escape Velocity specifically, (b) what you are looking for in a club, and (c) how (and how much) you see yourself contributing and making your mark in the club. What's your vision?

2) Come out to some of our club rides. It's a great way for you to meet some of us, and for some of us to meet you. It's our social pace ride, so come out to be social. It *is* how we get to know you better, after all. And of course, feel free to approach any of us at local events such as cyclocross races, the gran fondo, or at the velodrome.

3) Get an Escape Velocity member in good standing to vouch for you. If you are new in town, or otherwise don't know any EV members well, then that's all the more reason to make it to the club rides and be chatty!

We look forward to hearing from you!

(Any riders interested in joining dEVo, our U23 (under age 23) team, should email dEVo Team Director Jeff Ain directly.)
